Perry Perry

Information: Perry has lived mainly in Oceanside or Ucluelet since 1969. For many years she focused her volunteer efforts on increasing access to the arts in these communities. As Healthy Community Coordinator for the City of Parksville (1992-1997), she become closely involved with resident concerns regarding the environment, the local economy, housing and accessibility and their interconnectedness. She first became aware of MVIHES via the Internet while working as Professor of Nursing English at the Christian College of Nursing in Republic of Korea (1998-2006). During that period she presented several community education lectures on the environment and volunteers and was pleased to be able to us MVIHES as a model. Upon returning to B.C., Perry coordinated the development of the Alberni Valley Community Literacy Plan and helped to initiate a plan for literacy in Nuu-chah-nulth and in English on the west coast of Vancouver Island. She has a B.A. in Political Science from Middlebury College, Vermont; a MBA in Arts and Media from Schulich School of Business, York University, Toronto.
