Raising Public Awareness through Education
In line with our mission, MVIHES raises public awareness through education at many public events.
In line with our mission to connect people to their landscape through education, MVIHES raises awareness through public events and public education, both in the schools and throughout the community. Our informative dispays are showcased at a number of events in the Oceanside area, including Rivers Day Events, Earth Day Events, The Brant Festival, KidsFest, Oceans Day and the Oceanside's Water Festival/Family Days.

Rivers Day, Oceanside
British Columbia's Rivers Day is a province wide event held every year on the last Sunday in September. MVIHES actively participates in this event with local tours, displays and information.
KidFest, Parksville
KidFests is a fun-filled day at the Community Beach in Parksville, and MVIHES is there with interactive activities for the whole family. Come out and see what we have in store for the kids!
Oceans Day
Oceans Day is a day where we celebrate our world ocean and our personal connection to the sea. As MVIHES began expanding our mission, it was only natural that we would want to be a part of this festival and share with the community information about the projects we are involved in that are linked directly to our ocean.
Earth Day
Earth Day is an opportunity to take positive action against the environmental challenges that surround us, and MVIHES offers tours, and informative displays to help us all take the next step.
Brant Festival
A festival to celebrate the small Black Brant that stops off on our local shores to rest and feed. MVIHES has actively participated in the festival, hosting a walk in the estuary and providing information.>
OCEANSIDE'S WATER FESTIVAL/FAMILY DAYS
Orginally created by MVIHES for the community in 2005, this event has now been blended with the Qualicum Beach Family Days. Each year looks a little different but has included activity stations for all ages, childrens shows and other demonstrations or hands-on opportunities. Look for this event in May of each year in Qualicum Beach.
